About Northcote

Past the famous Ruckers Hill, with its stellar views of Melbourne’s CBD, lies the once unassuming suburb of Northcote, 6km north east of the city.  Northcote originally grew around the 1850’s mansions built during the gold rush boom, with a large working class eventually populating the area in the early 20th century due to the development of various factories and industry.

With its decidedly egalitarian feel, Northcote is home to people in all circumstances and from all walks of life who enjoy its strong community feel. From family friendly neighbourhood festivals and arts events throughout the year, movies at the striking art deco Westgarth cinema, live music at Northcote Social Club, or grabbing a tasty Ruckers Hill food truck offering, the residents of Northcote are blessed with plenty of old world charm alongside modern amenities.
